Atlanta Falcons At Chicago Bears, NFL Betting Preview: Atlanta begins a season as a favorite route for the second consecutive season, not to win in Pittsburgh a year ago. The Falcons were thrown out of the playoffs in 2010 round of the division by eventual Super Bowl champion Green Bay, and is hungry to return to the playoffs. The team has taken a major step within the tension in moving to acquire the former receiver Julio Jones of Alabama, who knows what, is at stake in this season. "You cannot get complacent with the expectations," said Jones. "We are here as a team and we will play as a team." Atlanta is 16-7 ATS as a favorite the last two years. The Falcons have won the last two meetings, and the overall series is tied at 12 wins each. Atlanta’s quarterback Matt Ryan is likely to lead the team to victory Sunday due to picking up 33 wins as a starter in his first three years, which is the most wins for a signal-caller over that span since Dan Marino. The team’s passing attack could open more holes for running back Michael Turner, who ran for 1,371 yards and 12 touchdowns a season ago. The other side of the ball, the defense has a lot of defensive end John Abraham to run again in his defensive end spot. He led the team with 13 sacks in 2010. Chicago still has high expectations of going to the new season after falling from NFC Championship Game against the division rival Green Bay. “Expectations should be high,” commented Bears newly acquired wide receiver Roy Williams. “I want them high.” The Bears are hoping the former Lions and Cowboys wide receiver will catch fire in offensive coordinator Mike Martz’s offense, as he enjoyed prior success in the system while in the Motor City. Quarterback Jay Cutler is just looking to get time to throw downfield, as the offensive line surrendered a NFL-high 52 sacks last year. Chicago is 4-3 ATS as a home underdog of three points or less. The Bears have an important offensive weapon Cutler can put the ball in the runner Matt Forte, who won 1.616 total yards of scrimmage a year ago. Many questioned his commitment to the team during camp, after not having a contract extension he sought. The same problem may be true for linebacker Lance Briggs stars, while the team has not complied with his request that they want more money. Chicago won the last five series when playing in the Windy City, but the contest was played this in 2005. Bettors are that the Falcons are 10-3 ATS in Week 1, while the Bears are 3-7 ATS in the season opener. Atlanta Falcons At Chicago Bears, NFL Betting Preview.
