Ted Nugent Rebuffs Democratic Attacks: ‘I’m a Black Jew at a Nazi-Klan Rally

Ted Nugent Rebuffs Democratic Attacks: ‘I’m a Black Jew at a Nazi-Klan Rally: Rock guitarist, conservative activist and Mitt Romney supporter Ted Nugent says he stands by his provocative rant against the Obama administration at last weekend’s National Rifle Association convention, despite mounting pressure from Democrats and an investigation by the Secret Service. “I spoke at the NRA and I will stand by my speech. It was 100 percent positive,” Nugent told the Dana Loesch radio show today.  “It’s about we the people taking back our American dream from the corrupt monsters in the federal government under this administration and the communist czars he’s appointed.” Nugent told a crowd of convention-goers that “if Barack Obama becomes the president in November, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year.” “If you can’t go home and get everybody in your lives to clean house in this vile, evil, America-hating administration, I don’t even know what you’re made of,” he said at the NRA.Democrats launched a social media and web video campaign demanding that Nugent retract his statements and Mitt Romney, whom Nugent has endorsed and stumped for, deliver a public rebuke.  Romney has not commented.
The Secret Service told ABC News it is aware of Nugent’s comments and conducting “the appropriate follow-up” given the potentially threatening nature of the remarks.“See, I’m a black Jew at a Nazi-Klan rally, and there are some power-abusing corrupt monsters in our federal government that despise me because I have the audacity to speak the truth to identify the violations of our government, particularly Eric Holder and the president and Tim Geithner, ad nauseum,” Nugent told Loesch.“I have never in my life threatened anyone’s life. I’m incapable of threatening anyone’s life. Because I’m about positive change, my entire speech, all my articles,” he later added.Nugent did not temper his rhetoric for Democratic National Committee chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz or House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, whom he called “varmints.”“Varmints are sometimes clever, but they are really easy to outmaneuver,” he said. “If you just listen to Wasserman Schultz, just watch the lady talk, listen to her words, examine her voting record. Listen to Nancy Pelosi, this sub-human scoundrel… these government monsters are so out of control. I’m using my First Amendment.“The job of we the people is to spotlight cockroaches, and come November we’re going to stomp them at the voting booth,” he said.Romney campaign spokeswoman Andrea Saul did not directly respond to Nugent when asked for a reaction to his comments, but she said “divisive language is offensive no matter what side of the political aisle it comes from.”“Mitt Romney believes everyone needs to be civil,” Saul added.Nugent told Loesch that he’s stating publicly what Mitt Romney is really thinking but can’t say.“Mitt Romney knows what I’m saying is true. He puts it in the words for him, I put in the words for me,” he said. The Romney campaign offered no further comment when asked about Nugent’s statement on the presumptive GOP presidential nominee.

Kim Kardashian And Kanye West

Kim Kardashian And Kanye West: When Kim Kardashian first began dating Kris Humphries, a lot of observers were surprised by her choice of an only marginally famous athlete. After all, her ex-boyfriend Reggie Bush won the Heisman Trophy at USC and was the second pick in the NFL draft. Humphries may have been a solid contributor on an NBA roster, but he was hardly Michael Jordan. Hell, he was hardly even Steve Kerr, but as the relationship went on, most of those wonders were placed on the backburner. Once the union imploded in epic fashion and Kardashian was ready to date again however, most suspected she’d remain single until someone huge came along. Apparently, those predictions were correct.Over the past few days, the reality star has been spending a ton of time with Kanye West. She’s been friends with the award-winning musician for years, but according to People, the two have finally decided to give being together the old college try. It’s reportedly not super serious at this juncture, but two very famous people allowing themselves to be photographed in public typically means more than just a passing fling. While neither has released a statement publicly yet, I’m fairly confident something is going on. The question is how long will it last. Working against Kardashian and West are their schedules and their tendencies to be a bit self-absorbed. Working for them are their abilities to understand what the other might be going through, as well as years of learning each other’s personalities.I think this’ll last awhile, but I’m less than confident they’ll wind up walking down the aisle. What do you think? How long will these two be together? Let us know your thoughts by voting in the poll below

Emily Maynard is 'The Bachelorette: Its official, "Bachelorette" fans Emily Maynard, the girl who won Brad's heart during the last season of "The Bachelor," is going to be looking for a new love this summer on "The Bachelorette." Emily Maynard, the beautiful, sweet, young mom who captured America's and Brad Womack's heart on the 15th season of "The Bachelor," finally thought she had her happy ending. She accepted Brad's proposal and was looking forward to walking down the aisle. Unfortunately her relationship with Brad ended, along with her dream of moving to Austin with her daughter, Ricki, and starting a family. But Emily is ready for her luck to change and to bring her the love she so richly deserves. It's hard to meet men as a single mom, but Emily will have her pick of 25 bachelors when she gets a second opportunity to find love starring in the eighth edition of "The Bachelorette" when it premieres this spring on the ABC Television Network. Emily, 25, led a tragic but fulfilling life before meeting Brad. In 2004 she became engaged to famed NASCAR driver and team owner Ricky Hendrick. Sadly Hendrick died in a plane crash in October, 2004, leaving his fiancée pregnant with their child. The apple of Emily's eye and legacy of their love, Josephine Riddick "Ricki" Hendrick was born June 29, 2005. Instantly popular with "Bachelor" fans, Emily's strength, passion and southern charm - as a mother and as a woman - would make anyone happy to make her his wife. She found love again with Brad and, even though it didn't work out, she knows that the series can work. Among those 25 men, she is looking for someone who makes her laugh, doesn't take himself too seriously and can be her best friend. Emily is hoping that the third time is the charm. Emily feels incredibly grateful to have found her first love when she was very young, and despite not having dated a lot, knows what it's like to be truly in love. In the past seven years, she has been looking for someone with the same spark she has for life, and she believes that she will find her soul mate on 'The Bachelorette.' So there we go, "Bachelorette" fans. Who's excited? And we might even have Bentley to look forward to as well!

Florida primary: Does Twitter 'joy' for Romney signal victory?

Florida primary: Does Twitter 'joy' for Romney signal victory?: Republicans in Florida went to the polls Tuesday to cast what could be a decisive vote in the GOP race for the White House, a contest marked so far by the fluctuating fortunes of those still vying for their party's nomination. On Twitter, both nationally and in Florida, Mitt Romney's prospects appear bright, according to an analysis of social sentiment by San Francisco-based Kanjoya. Romney -- who suffered a stinging 12-percentage-point loss to Gingrich in South Carolina -- has been the subject of daily and hourly increases in "joyfulness," according to Kanjoya project manager Kumar Garapaty. MOOD METER: Track the nation's mood on the candidates to assess emotional language in social media, Kanjoya uses an algorithm that was derived from work done on the Experience Project, which has collected more than 14 million personal stories since 2007. Unlike in South Carolina, where Kanjoya analysts tracked rising "joy" around Romney to people tweeting happiness about his defeat, the sentiment Tuesday appeared to be tied to his chance of winning. As a self-proclaimed "30ish Republican Lady"  tweeted early Tuesday morning Happy voting day! Are you heading to the polls? Tell us what you're seeing. At his final campaign stop Tuesday, Romney told reporters: "If we're successful here, it'll be pretty clear that when attacked you have to respond and you can't let charges go unanswered." The strategy appears to be working. Over the last eight hours, Kanjoya has found 20% of the Romney tweets assessed as joyful contain the words "presidential, primary, leads, confident, victory." As for Newt Gingrich? Ten days after the former House speaker took South Carolina in a decisive victory, Kanjoya found an increase in "surprise" around Gingrich. The reason? Turns out it was only loosely tied to his performance on the campaign trail. Kanjoya analysts said the trend appears to be tied to the controversy about Gingrich playing the "Eye of the Tiger" song at his rallies. Kanjoya officials caution there are things to keep in mind when analyzing language for emotion. Company founder Armen Berjikly said language can be difficult to interpret correctly, with research finding people agree about the intent of statements about 80% of the time. And not all tweets can be assigned an emotion -- roughly 40% captured by their algorithm qualify.

Colbert’s Super PAC Raises More Than $1 Million

Colbert’s Super PAC Raises More Than $1 Million: Stephen Colbert’s quasi-satirical presidential bid has raised serious cash over $1 million, as of Tuesday morning, the comedian announced. An announcement on the Web site of Mr. Colbert’s political action committee said the “super PAC” had filed $1,023,121.24 with the Federal Election Commission at 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday. The super PAC once known as the “The Definitely Not Coordinating with Stephen Colbert Super PAC,” then the “Colbert Super PAC,” but officially as “Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow” raised money from viewers to fund things like a commercial shown in South Carolina that equated Mitt Romney with a serial killer. “We raised it on my show and used it to materially influence the elections – in full accordance with the law. It’s the way our founding fathers would have wanted it, if they had founded corporations instead of just a country,” according to a release on the Web site, with contact details of someone named Alberto Rèalnamè, the communications director and an online “Clicktivist Organizr,” at bottom. Donors listed in the 147-page document include Gavin Newsom, the lieutenant governor of California ($500). A representative from Mr. Newsom’s office confirmed in an e-mail that the lieutenant governor had in fact donated to the super PAC. Some celebrities’ names also turned up in the filing, including the actors Laura San Giacomo, star of “Hot in Cleveland” ($250), and Bradley Whitford, a star of “The West Wing” ($250) naturally. Mr. Colbert also received money from a Rolling Stones tribute group called “Sticky Fingers Band” ($400). None of these donors’ contributions to the committee could be immediately confirmed. In addition to the super PAC’s more notable donors, it also received small donations from several people with dubious identities, including one in Wisconsin whose name, when pronounced, makes an obscene phrase.

Nick Cannon Kidney Failure

Nick Cannon Kidney Failure: As Nick Cannon continues to recover from what his wife Mariah Carey "mild kidney failure," the future of the health of the host of America's Got Talent is in question. Dr. Bryan Becker, immediate past President of the National Kidney Foundation, took time to chat with people about the condition of the cannon, and what may be ahead in terms of his health. What is mild renal insufficiency? Normally, when this happens, medically, we call it acute kidney damage. When Nick was being evaluated, someone probably did test his serum creatinine and creatinine was high and there was some decrease in kidney function. What causes decreased renal function, might have been due to an illness of any kind or take an over-the-counter as Motrin or Advil. Might also be due to dehydration. What kind of disease can cause this? Could be problems of pneumonia or stomach which decrease the fluid. How quickly it will recover? Depends on the cause. If it is connected only to the liquid, is probably going to recover very quickly once back fluid. If it is connected to the drug, it will take a couple of days to get out of the drug. If it is connected to another disease, it gets better over time. He could easily relapse? Depends on the cause, but usually when the person is acute, tends to get better.

Rick Santorum Rises To The Top

Rick Santorum Rises To The Top: Rick Santorum did not attract much attention a few weeks ago. On 15 December, the former Pennsylvania Senator has attracted about 20 people, as well as two reporters, an event the city of Sac city, Iowa. Later, in a coffee shop in Holstein, there were few more journalists and voters, but little enthusiasm. That night, Santorum was far from the middle of the stage a GOP debate in Sioux City.
Three weeks later, after he finished second, just eight votes behind former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney in the Iowa caucus, the mood was different. A crowd of supporters packed a ballroom in Stoney Creek Inn here, waving signs, chanting "we collect Rick" and singing "Amazing Grace" and "God Bless America." Events happening throughout last week attracted similar crowds and excitement, which shows a marked increase in support for Santorum following his so-called "surge" in the polls. Some Iowa voters said his results improved polling gave them more confidence that he was a strong candidate worthy of their votes. Katy Kauffman, a teacher of 48 years, who lives in suburban Des Moines, said after the event that she was elated when results started rolling. She was standing near the front of the camera, which was warm and packed with supporters. Organizers later asked them to lower their scores, in order not to impede the view of the cameras of the podium. Kauffman has caucused and voted in Iowa before, but she has never volunteered for a campaign or served as a captain caucus, the person who steps up to talk about their favorite candidate before the caucus vote. Did those things to Santorum this year, he said, because he felt inspired to support it. Not "I can think of nobody better than him," he said. Not "really can think of nobody better than him in the country, not just people who are running." Judging by the crowd that drew and members of the media who swarmed to cover its events, others were drawn to him as well in the last days of the Iowa campaign. On Monday, in an appearance in a position of a chain of pizza in Boone, Iowa, there were so many supporters in attendance that many paid to external sections of the restaurant. Couldn't see Santorum where crowded and he could only hear when he began to speak at a near scream. When Santorum visited Sioux City, Iowa, on Sunday, the pastor, who introduced came close to tears while talking about the need to change the direction of the country. Men and women stood on chairs and tables to see it. One woman said "amen" almost every time that Santorum finished a sentence. Later that day in Orange Rapids, Iowa, supporters watched raptly as Santorum spoke about abortion. The applicant is firmly opposed to abortion and says that the issue is more important to him, but it is discussed more frequently when appearing in front of evangelicals that he does elsewhere. Those voters, especially, often became solemn as he argued that the future of the country is hanging in the balance. "It is so sad," one woman said to another, looking solemn.Santorum prides himself on taking questions and giving answers verbose in response--until there are none left, and continued to hold hourlong question-and-answer sessions with voters to caucus night. If his strategy will work beyond Iowa remains to be seen, but certainly speak up here. There were a couple of things he mentioned in every stump speech without fail: its small staff Roadshow, the number of speeches that he had done already-a number in the decade with 370, he says-and the phrase "you can buy Iowans." Santorum's Campaign Manager, Michael Biundo, told reporters Tuesday night that the candidate's message will not change as he moved to New Hampshire, the State that will hold the first primary election on 10 January. "Things changed two weeks ago and it just keeps building from there," he said.

Mary J. Blige Says Lil Kim, : Nicki Minaj and Lil Kim exchanged overt and subliminal "swollen" to each other last year, but the "Queen of Hip Hop Soul" Mary j. Maybe one day [a track with all three of us] will happen. I'm hoping. "We're all just come to think positive, continued Blige."Everyone is so negative, just thinking about it and everyone is in it, but if a bunch of people would say, ' Yo, stop this and help these girls do something together or to see the light. ““For the rest of the interview, Blige speaks to maintain his relationship with her husband, lightens the comments made about wishing they had parents as Beyonce and much more. The tension between the two emcees has been building up over the years. The elements of image of Nicki as his multicolored wigs and her bra and panties-clad promotional poster for his mixtape 2008 Sucka free are admittedly inspired by Kim, but Kim accused Nicki to steal his style and disrespectful passively to her. Johnny Knox Injury: At the beginning of the first quarter of the game bears ' with Seahawks at Soldier Field, Chicago wide receiver Johnny Knox suffered a back injury scary. Faced with a situation of 3° and 6 during the first series of the team's second drive of the game, the bears ' quarterback Caleb Hanie fired a pass to the center of Knox on a slant route. The third-year player reeled in a 17-yard gain. However, as Knox attempted to pick up yards after the catch, Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor dislodged the ball. Like Knox Dove to recover the fumble, he clashed with Seahawks defensive end Anthony Hargrove. Contact with Hargrove bent Knox back to the corner that looked as if very serious injury was a possibility. Initially, the crowd booed the Chicago fumble, but soon changed his tune, realizing that Knox may be seriously injured. After being attended to by medical staff on the field for about 10 minutes, Knox was placed on a stretcher and taken off the field. Had reported the movement in his hands and arms as he left the field, on the game when Knox suffered injury, the loose ball was scooped up eventually by Seahawks safety Earl Bennett. On the ensuing possession of Seattle, Marshawn Lynch would score a rushing touchdown to stake the visitors of the early 7-0 lead.

The Ryan Gosling is TIME‘s ‘Coolest Person of the Year’

The Ryan Gosling is TIME‘s ‘Coolest Person of the Year’In the shadow of the anointing of TIME magazine of protester generic as 2011’s "person of the year", columnist Joel Stein has engineered its category of side-honour very personal staff. After careful consideration, Stein decided that the combined action of four very different films and personal behavior belies such downsides bravura annoying as Canadian origins, a Mouseketeer connection and some homeschooling. Consequently, Ryan Gosling is his choice for "coolest person of the year:" we have no idea how Gosling will deal with this honor. A tattoo seems like the obvious way to go, although a diorama commemorating probably would have been good enough for a place on Access Hollywood, But not because they collect the coolest person of the year. We do journalism. Stein doesn't think fans of Bradley Cooper will mount a protest, just as they did when the supporters Gosling people elected the first as "sexiest Man Alive." But just in case, he identifies the best street corner, at the base of the NYC headquarters of its magazine to gather.

School Closings

School Closings: Officials of the Chicago Public Schools began the public on Wednesday what could come in December, when they decide which schools will be closed or consolidated. At the meeting of the Board of Education, Oliver Sicat, the new chief district officer portfolio, said there is a correlation between poor performance of schools and school buildings underused. CPS officials said they will rely on school performance as the primary factor in determining which schools to overhaul, but facility usage will also be taken into account. “What that could mean is that our parents are voting with their feet,” Sicat said. A school’s “performance level” is tallied by a complex calculation that awards points based on state test scores, student growth measures and attendance rates, among other factors. The lowest ranking, Level 3, is for schools the district has placed on probation because of poor performance. Most CPS schools on probation are concentrated on the city’s South and West Sides, where underutilized buildings were also high, according to Sicat. Chicago Teachers Union President Karen Lewis dismissed Sicat’s presentation as an attempt to create a smoother reception for the always controversial annual school overhauls. “They’re just dragging it out and dressing it up under a different name,” Lewis said. Last year, the district announced plans to consolidate 16 schools. After public protests, four schools were spared. All new school closures or mergers are announced on December 1 as part of the law signed last month, Gov. Pat Quinn. School Closings

Apple unveils iPhone 4 update : CUPERTINO, Calif. - Apple Inc. unveiled afresh iPhone on Tuesday i.e. faster and more powerful but stops short of a more radical upgrade. It said Sprint customers now will be able to use one. The new iPhone 4S has an improved camera with a higher-resolution sensor. The processor is faster, which helps run smoother, more realistic action games. It's also a “global phone,” which means that Verizon iPhones will be available overseas, just as AT&T iPhones already are. There had been speculation that Apple would reveal a more radical revision of the telephone, an “iPhone five.” The no-show leaves room for speculation that Apple will reveal a new model in less than a year, maybe one equipped to take advantage of Verizon's and AT&T's new high-speed data networks. There had also been speculation that Apple would admit a chip that could talk to payment terminals at retail stores, turning the iPhone into a “mobile wallet.” Competitors are beginning to include this capability in their phones, though the payment systems are still immature. Apple made no mention of such a feature in the iPhone 4S. ‘Personal assistant' Apple is admitting a “personal assistant” application called Siri in the iPhone 4S. It responds to spoken questions and commands such as “Do I need an umbrella today?” It's an advanced version of speech-recognition apps found on other phones. The new iPhone also comes with new mobile software that admits such features as the ability to sync content wirelessly, without having to plug the device to a Mac or Windows machine. The iPhone announcement came during Apple's 1st major product event in years without Steve Jobs presiding. New CEO Tim Cook led the show later Jobs, who has been battling health problems, resigned from the post in August. Cook, wearing a navy blue button-down shirt and jeans, opened by calling his nearly 14-year tenure at Apple “the privilege of a lifetime Those in the audience clapped as he entered, but the reaction seemed more muted than what Jobs had lately received. Cook said the latest iPhone, which came out in June 2010, sold a lot of rapidly than previous models, but the iPhone still has just five percent of the global handset market. Apple is hoping to grow that with the new model. Apple's new mobile software, iOS 5, will also be available on October. 12 for existing devices the iPhone 4 and 3GS, both iPad models and later versions of the iPod Touch. Apple said October. 12 also will mark the launch of its new iCloud service, which will store content such as music, documents, apps and photos on Apple's servers and let people access them wirelessly on numerous devices. Apple said the new telephone will come in black or white. It will cost $199 for a sixteen gigabyte-version, $299 for 32 GB and $399 for 64 GB all with a two-year service contract requirement. It now will be available through Sprint Nextel Corp., besides the existing carriers, AT&T Inc. and Verizon Wireless. Pre-orders will begin Friday with availability October. 14. The previous version, iPhone 4, now will cost $99 for eight GB. The 2009 model, the iPhone 3GS, will be given away for free with 8 GB. Both also require a two-year service contract. Apple also touted the popularity of its products and unveiled a new line of iPods, admitting a Nano model with a multi-touch display that promises to be easier to navigate. Apple made no mention of its Classic model, which a lot of people had speculated the company might discontinue. The iPhone has gained millions of fans, thanks to its slick looks, high-resolution screen and intuitive software. There were 39 million iPhones sold in the 1st 6 months of this year. Apple's stock fell $2.10 to $372.50 in trading Tuesday. It had been down as much as about $17 in earlier trading.

Breaking News Phoenix Jones' Arrested in Seattle

Breaking News Phoenix Jones' Arrested in Seattle: Seattle's masked superhero crime fighter "Phoenix Jones" is now fighting an assault charge for allegedly spraying pepper spray on folks who he claims were fighting. Seattle police force claim the folks were dancing. Phoenix Jones, who has been unmasked by police force as Benjamin Francis, was caught about 2:30 a.m. Sunday while still wearing his black and gold superhero costume, a bullet-proof vest and carrying 2 cans of pepper spray. Jones is a member of Rain City Superhero Movement, a group of self-proclaimed superheroes who say they patrol the streets to fight crime. He was charged with assaulting 2 folks who police force said were "dancing and having a good time" as they walked to their car. In this particular case, he perceived that this group was fighting and when we contacted them, they said they were not fighting," said Det. Mark Jamieson, a Seattle police force section public information officer. "Unluckily, he used force. He committed a crime, an assault versus these individuals. That's versus the law. The police force report by Officer Hosea Crumpton said cited a woman who was sprayed saying the four victims "began dancing and frolicking with each other. Suddenly she observed a human running full sprint towards her group. The human sprayed all 4 victims with pepper spray, the report stated. Francis, who was being filmed by a journalist at the time, told police he "ran into the crowd to break up the fight. Seattle Superhero Phoenix Jones Now Fighting Assault Charges He saw 2 white males fighting, but could not explain why 4 folks, including women, had been sprayed," the police force report said. In a video taken by a journalist who was with Jones when he was arrested and posted on Jones' Facebook page shows Jones rushing towards commotion and a crowd in a road beneath an underpass in downtown Seattle. It's unclear from the video whether the group is fighting or just messing around, as police force said. The police report said that Francis "has had a history of injecting himself in these incidents. Recently there has been increased reports of citizens being pepper sprayed by [Francis] and his group." Earlier that night several other nightclub patrons told police they had also been pepper sprayed by Phoenix Jones, but left the area before police arrived. Peter Tangen, a photographer and spokesman for Phoenix Jones, questioned how police can say the group was dancing and joking around when Jones was on-scene as an eyewitness and police were not when the situation occurred. The first thing Phoenix did was to scream out to call 911," Tangen said. "He's been doing this four or five nights a week this entire year and he has never been charged with a crime. To assert that he ran into a bunch of people dancing and pepper sprayed them is entirely inconsistent with what he has done consistently this entire year." Jones, the husband and father of two, is a self-proclaimed superhero who roams the streets of Seattle late at night allegedly protecting his fellow citizens. "I'm definitely not going to let my fellow citizens be assaulted and not do anything," Jones told "Good Morning America" in January. "It's a pretty simple message. Citizens need to be more accountable. Calling 911 is a great start, but it's not the end all to end all," Jones said. "Criminals feel free to just run wild in my city, and I'm not going to stand for it." Jones isn't the only one who feels this way. He is just one of many citizen superheroes around the country with similar groups in Orlando, New York and Salt Lake City among other places. Over the years, the citizen superheroes have grown more organized, with websites popping up to help them organize themselves such as Superheroes Anonymous and Real Life Superheroes. On these websites, participants can do everything from share their crime-fighting stories to learn about patenting their looks and names. The Salt Lake City group, called the Black Monday Society, is made up of 9 members that go out to patrol downtown Salt Lake City some times a month. They meet up at the Salt Lake City Library and fan out from there, according to the Salt Lake Tribune. While the group does break up fights, they also deliver meals to the homeless and balance their superhero lives with families and day jobs.Breaking News Phoenix Jones' Arrested in Seattle

Detroit Tigers

Detroit Tigers: Some things to keep an eye on the Rangers and Tigers set for things ALCS: Who playgrounds of two for the Rangers? We know that CJ Wilson and Justin Verlander are expected to become entangled in what should be fun. But what about Game 2! The Rangers could keep their same rotation and go with Derek Holland in Game 2 at home and send Colby Lewis, whose road splits were much better than his home ones, in Game 3 at Comerica Park. Lewis is coming off a solid outing in Tampa in a pivotal Game 3. Holland was able to grind out a solid start as well in Game 2, so the Rangers may elect to just leave things the way they had it. That would include Matt Harrison in Game 4, also on the road. Wilson and Verlander would likely go at it again in Game 5 in Detroit, if both stay on normal rest. Jim Leyland decision Verlander threw a side session of more than 50 pitches before Game 5 at Yankee Stadium a few people raise their eyebrows. But he sent a clear message to Doug Fister this game was the party of 5. And the Tigers got the win without having to use their ace. Game 2 starting for the Tigers, Max Scherzer, who started 1 1 / 3 innings in Game 5 probably could. That would leave Doug Fister, which began in Game 5 for Game 3 on Tuesday in Detroit rest. Look at the large gardens in the area of Comerica. Craig Gentry said Thursday that he's ready for that area to cover a lot of ground and Josh Hamilton said he'd be fine, but noted there was plenty of room in center out there. The Rangers must decide whether to carry an extra pitcher. It seems likely they'll do that, but which one? Darren O'Day and Yoshinori Tateyama threw side sessions on Thursday and they seem to be the leading candidates. Michael Kirkman could also be considered. Both Texas and Detroit benefited from great bullpens in the ALDS. Joaquin Benoit pitched in and out of a jam in the seventh on Thursday and Jose Valverde didn't blow a save all season. The Rangers have Alexi Ogando, Mike Adams and Neftali Feliz for the final three innings. Watching these two bullpens work should be fun -- and you better score some runs early. Ogando started in all three of the Rangers' wins vs. Detroit and posted a 1.29 ERA and the Tigers batted just .205 against him. He allowed three runs on 18 hits in 21 innings 18 strikeouts, three walks. Regular season results aren't necessarily a great gauge of how a postseason series will go. That's especially true for the Rangers against the Tigers. Why? For starters, they weren't particularly healthy when playing Detroit (after all, Hamilton got hurt in the first series up there) and many of the players that found their way into games aren't even on the roster anymore. Dave Bush started one game against the Tigers with bullpen pieces coming in that won't be on the postseason roster. Plus, the bullpen let some games get away early in the season vs. Detroit and it's not the same bullpen in Texas now. The last time the two teams played was Aug. 4. A lot has happened for both teams since then. Is Verlander to the Tigers like Cliff Lee was to the Rangers in last year's ALCS? Lee pitched only once in the ALCS in 2010.
But he hung over the series. The Yankees knew they had the pressure on them to win the first two on the road knowing Lee was waiting. Verlander will pitch at least twice in this series. If he wins those games, it gives the Tigers a big edge. But if Wilson gets the better of Verlander, it's a huge boost for Texas. So those games should be fun and big for momentum. Of course, the Tigers could decide to go with Verlander on short rest and he's said he's willing and pitches him in Game 4 and Game 7. Remains to be seen Rangers hit .275 as a team against the Tigers, but the part that was a very good game. They need to Ian Kinsler and Elvis Andrus hit them better than they did in the regular season.
